Angel Casabona, 84, of Mahwah, formerly of Passaic, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2018.
Born in Esperañza, Las Villas, Cuba, Mr. Casabona came to the United States in 1955, settling initially in Miami before then moving to Passaic in 1957, living there for many years and more recently had been living in Mahwah. Prior to retiring, he had been employed as a Machinist with Owens Illinois in Moonachie. He was also a superintendent and apartment complex manager.
He gave back to the community by volunteering his time as an Auxiliary Police Officer with the City of Passaic from 1973-1978. A proud and patriotic man, Mr. Casabona was recruited by the United States to serve as a soldier in Brigade 2506 in the Bay of Pigs Invasion.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Nilda C. (nee Ramos) Casabona, of Mahwah; four children: Vivian Casabona of Mahwah, Annette Casabona of Mahwah, Yvette Casabona-Wallace and her husband, Scott, of Nutley and Angel Casabona and his wife Cheryl, of Passaic; five grandchildren: Sabrina Eileen Forlenza, Scott Michael Wallace, Chelsea Rose Casabona, Samantha Anne Wallace and Jacob Angel Casabona; great-grandson Jet Legend Forlenza; and by his beloved siblings and nieces and nephews.
Visiting will be Sunday from 1-5pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral service Monday 10:30am at the funeral home with interment to follow at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton.
