Anita R. Alvarez

Anita R. (nee Fernandez) Alvarez, 85, of Union City, NJ, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018. Born in Oviedo, Spain, Mrs. Alvarez moved with her family to Cuba after the Spanish Civil War. After residing in Cuba for many years, she left Cuba in 1967 and settled in Queens, New York. Mrs. Alvarez has lived in Union City, New Jersey since 1980 where she was a faithful parishioner of St. Augustine R.C. Church.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jose Alvarez in 1994.
Survivors include: her two sons, Joseph Alvarez and his wife Elsie of Clifton, NJ and Ralph Alvarez and his wife Susanne of Jamesburg, NJ; one brother, Ismael Fernandez of Rockaway, NY; and her four loving grandchildren, Joseph Alvarez, Jr., Kristofer Alvarez, Kerry Lynn Alvarez and Marisa Joanne Alvarez.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 6 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Funeral services will be held Monday 9:15 am from the funeral home and 10:00 am at St. Paul R.C. Church, 124 Union Avenue, Clifton. Entombment to follow at Bergen Crest Mausoleum in North Bergen.
