Anna (nee Fischer) Kovacs, 91, of Passaic, passed away on July 29, 2018. Born in Eger, Hungary, Mrs. Kovacs came to the United States on Feb 16, 1957 through the Port of New York. Through Catholic Charities, she moved to Buffalo, NY and resided with nuns. Mrs. Kovacs moved to New York City where she lived for 30 years. She then lived in Ft. Lauderdale, FL before returning North to Passaic nine years ago to live with her daughter and son-in-law.
Mrs. Kovacs was predeceased by two sons, Jan David Charles in 2007 and Tomas Greskovits; her brother, Jozef Fischer and her sister, Monci Fischer.
Survivors include: her husband, Ferenc Kovacs; her daughter, Anne Szalay and her husband, Tibor; her Goddaughter / niece, Melinda Palffy; her great-niece, Ivett Nahoczky; and her dear friends, Amelia Ferenc and Anna Robbins.
A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Stephen Magyar R.C. Church, 223 Third Street, Passaic. Burial of ashes to follow at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton.
