Bessie May Yuhas

BESSIE MAY (nee Hughes) YUHAS, 86, of OCEAN PINES, MD died Friday at home.
Bessie was born in Baltimore, MD. After being raised in Baltimore and Hyattsville, she graduated from the University of Maryland where she met her late husband, Joe. After marriage they settled in New Jersey. While raising five young children, Bessie earned a teaching degree from Montclair State University. For more than 25 years, she was a social studies teacher at Bloomfield High School until her retirement in 1998 to Ocean Pines, MD.
Mrs. Yuhas was a parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle RC Church, Bloomfield.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph W. Yuhas, on Oct. 11, 1984 and by her daughter in law, Barbara Yuhas.
Survivors include: her two daughters, Carolyn A. and Mary Ann Yuhas, both of Hoboken; her three sons, Joseph W., Jr. of Takoma Park, MD, Kenneth J. Yuhas and his wife, Kelly of Westminster, MD and Leonard M. Yuhas of Ocean Pines, MD; her two brothers and two sisters; her seven grandchildren: Kenneth Yuhas, Jr. and his wife, Emily, Gabrielle Marotta, Joseph B. Yuhas, Erin Leech and her husband, Duncan, Kristen Marotta, Brandon Yuhas and Angela Smith and two great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 9:00 am Tuesday from Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 515 Lexington Ave., Clifton and 10:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle RC Church, 60 Byrd Ave., Bloomfield.
