Carol Ann Dempsey

Carol Ann Dempsey of Belleville, NJ passed away on July 10, 2018 at Columbus LTACH in Newark.
Carol was born in Passaic, NJ on October 19, 1941 to the late Thomas (Bud) and Lillian (nee Cameron) Dempsey. She is survived by her loving cousins Maureen Cameron Wales and her husband, Robert, of Florida and Joan Cameron of Virginia as well as dear family friends Jean Aires, Catherine and Joseph Becker and their children, Joe, Marty(Denyse), Nancy Macmillan(Danny), and grandchildren Emily, Andrew, Molly and Daniel.
A graduate of Montclair State University with a BA in History and a MA in Sociology, Carol began teaching at William B. Cruise Veterans Memorial School #11 in Passaic, NJ in 1963 and in 1967 transferred to the history department at Passaic High School where she eventually became the beloved chairperson of the department. She will be remembered for her devotion to her students, commitment to public education and her respect for all people.
After retiring in 2005, Carol faced numerous health issues and was unable to pursue many of her dreams for retirement. However, she continued to maintain a lifelong interest in politics, the arts and the welfare of animals. Her loving pets Cammy and Lily brought her great joy. For many of her later years, she was assisted by Donna Berg, Carol Shanko and Leslie Lewis with devotion and friendship.
A Memorial Service for Carol will be held at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton, NJ on Monday, July 16th at 11:30am. Memorial Visitation on Sunday, July 15th from 5pm to 7pm.
