Carol Jean Prawetz

Carol Jean (nee Bush) Prawetz, 69, of Clifton, passed away on May 21, 2018. Born in Passaic, Mrs. Prawetz was raised in Fair Lawn and has lived in Clifton since 1975. After graduating from Eastern Christian High School in North Haledon, she earned her bachelor's degree in Nursing from Rutgers University and then a Masters Degree from Jersey City State University. She was employed as a school nurse with the Clifton Board of Education for 27 years, retiring as the Supervisor of School Nursing. Previously, Mrs. Prawetz worked as a pediatric nurse for ten years.
Mrs. Prawetz was a faithful member of the Athenia Reformed Church in Clifton where she served as a Deacon. She was active in the Clifton community, serving as the Vice President of the Clifton Board of Health, the Treasurer of the Hamilton House Museum and, even after retirement, still volunteered in the Clifton Public Schools.
Survivors include: her beloved husband, Otto; three devoted children, Mathias Prawetz and his wife Nicole, Michael Prawetz and his wife Sharon and Jennifer Prawetz; five granddaughters; one grandson; and her siblings, Ralph Bush, Ernest Bush, Joseph Bush, Nicholas Bush, Jr., Ruth Koenig and Janet Buist.
She was predeceased by one sister, Judith Bush in 2015.
Visitation will take place Friday from 1 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at the Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. The funeral services will be held Saturday 10:30 am at the funeral home followed by the entombment at Laurel Grove Memorial Park in Totowa.
