Diego Salazar Obituary

Diego Salazar, 81, of Woodland Park, New Jersey, formerly of Queens, New York, passed away on October 30, 2018. Born in Aguadas, Caldas, Colombia, Mr. Salazar came to the United States in 1964. He settled in Queens where he resided until moving to Woodland Park, NJ in 2016. Before retiring, Mr. Salazar was a New York City taxi cab driver for 25 years. He was an avid Sudoku solver and Chess player. Mr. Salazar loved sports, especially baseball and his beloved New York Mets. Every day he read the New York Post from the front page news headline to the back page sports headline. Most important to Diego was his family and his grandchildren - they are his greatest legacy.
Survivors include: his beloved wife, Alba Marina (nee Gomez) Salazar; his six children, Maria Cecilia Salazar and her husband, Gustavo Urrea, Juan Diego Salazar and his wife, Jessica Del Pozo, Vivian Salazar, Vanessa Salazar, Natalia Naranjo and her husband, Nicolas Naranjo and Santiago Salazar; five grandchildren, Sofia, Gabriela and Isabella Salazar and Lia and Camila Naranjo; and two brothers, Henry and Javier Salazar.
He was predeceased by one sister, Cecilia Salazar.
Visiting hours will be held Friday from 5 to 9 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, N.J. A Mass of Catholic burial will be held Saturday 11:30 am at St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church, 797 Valley Road, Clifton, N.J. Please meet at church. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
