Edward Kanczewski Obituary

Edward Kanczewski, 80, of Wayne died on May 12, 2010. Born and raised in Jersey City, Mr. Kanczewski attended St. Anthony's School and was a graduate of Ferris High School. Prior to retiring, he had been employed as a Toll Collector with the NJ Turnpike Authority. Prior employment was initially as a journeyman electrician with Western Electric and then as a very accomplished hairdresser, during which time he was a member and served as President of the Professional Hairdresser's Guild. Mr. Kanczewski was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Korean War and was a member of the Navy League. He was a parishioner of St. John Kanty RC Church in Clifton and was a lifelong supporter of the Felician Sisters in Lodi.

Mr. Kanczewski was predeceased by his brothers, Chester and Michael Konczewski.
Survivors include: his wife, Frances (nee Bielen), of Wayne; his sons: Edward Kanczewski of Pompton Plains and Gerard Kanczewski of Mahwah; his sister, Jennie Buraszeski of Toms River; daughter-in-law Krystyna and three grandchildren: Steven, Kathryn and Justine.

Visiting only on Tuesday May 18, 2010 just prior to the funeral from 10:00 - 11:30 am. Funeral services will be Tuesday 11:30 am from the Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton and 12:00 pm noon at St. John Kanty RC Church, 49 Speer Avenue, Clifton. Interment to follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown.

Instead of flowers, the family asks that Memorial Contributions be made by family and friends to the Retirement Fund for Religious. Contributions may be sent by mail to the Retirement Fund for Religious, P.O. Box 73140 Department D, Baltimore, MD 21273. Dad was a product of the parochial school system. He ALWAYS had a soft spot in his heart for all Religious Orders (Priests, Brothers, and Sisters) but especially the Felician Sisters who taught him well. Dad would be ecstatic (understatement) if you would contribute in a meaningful manner to this most worthy cause.
