ELEANOR (nee Smith) GILLEN PIERCE, 84, of Toms River, formerly of Oakland and North Haledon, died Tuesday at Hospice of New Jersey in Wayne, New Jersey.
Born in Paterson, Mrs. Pierce lived in Oakland and North Haledon for many years before moving to Toms River. Before her retirement, she was employed with Curtiss-Wright Aeronautical Co. in Wood-Ridge as an inspector.
Mrs. Pierce was a former parishioner of St. Maximillian Kolbe R.C. Church in Toms River. She was a former member of the Fair Lawn ELKS and the Forked River ELKS Ladies Auxiliaries. She was a member of the Wright Aero Retiree Club.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Bernard Gillen in 1994 and her second husband, Niles W. Pierce in 1999.
Survivors include: two brothers, Robert Smith and his wife, Pearl of Clifton and William T. Smith and his wife, Shirley of Coral Springs, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday 10:30 am at the Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Visiting will be Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of New Jersey, 400 Broadacres Drive, Bloomfield, NJ 07003.
