Ellen M. (Melletta) DeYoung, 82, a resident of Swanzey, NH passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 14, 2018, following a period of declining health.

She was born March 17, 1935 in Paterson, NJ the daughter of Arthur and Jessie Melletta. She was a 1953 graduate of Eastside High School in Patterson and went on to work as a Dental Hygienist for many years. On August 11, 1956 she married the love of her life: Samuel DeYoung and the two began their journey of nearly 62 years together.

After moving to the Monadnock region, Ellen worked for various businesses including the Cheshire County Welfare Department, the Keene Savings Bank and the Cheshire County Commissioner's Office. She was also elected to the position of County Treasurer for two terms. For several years she also served as the Director for the Monadnock Humane Society. She was also a member of the Keene Country Club and she and her husband were members of the First Congregational Church of Swanzey. Hard work and passionate services were two of her most admirable qualities.

She loved spending time with her family and was a very loving wife, Mom, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her husband: Samuel DeYoung of Swanzey, her son: David H. DeYoung of Denton, MD, two grandchildren: Jeff and Bethany, three great-grandchidlren: Natalie, Noah and one on the way, her sister: Carol Anderson and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. She is predeceased by her son: Daniel S. DeYoung.

Family and friends are invited to call on the family on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Bizub-Parker Funeral Home, 47 Main St. Little Falls, NJ from 10 to 11am, followed by a funeral service celebrated by Rev. Ed Hawkins. Interment to follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa, NJ.
