Erika M. Braun

Erika M. (nee Dittkrist) Braun, 90, of Clifton, NJ passed away peacefully at home on December 8, 2017, her 90th Birthday, surrounded by her loving family. The funeral services will be under the direction of Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton, NJ. Visitation will take place Thursday, December 14th from 4-8 PM, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 15th at 10:30 AM followed by internment at Calvary Cemetery, Paterson, NJ.
Born in Insterburg, East Prussia, Germany, Erika spent her childhood in Ragnit, East Prussia, and later in Heidenheim/Brenz, Germany where she worked at Osram GmbH. She moved to the USA in 1958 and has resided in Clifton since 1964. From 1965 until her retirement in 1985, she worked in the Packaging Department for Hoffman-La Roche, Inc. Nutley, NJ. She enjoyed sewing, reading, dancing, traveling, her cherished flowers in her garden, and spending time with her family and friends. She generously supported charities and orphanages in her home community.
Erika married Merchant Marine engineer John C. Braun in 1958. He predeceased her in 1964. She was also predeceased by her parents Anna Meta (nee Brandenburger) and Otto Dittkrist, and sister, Marianne Mustachio. Surviving are her daughter Lucia Buchholz with husband Roland, her cherished grand-children Annemarie with husband Scott, and Victoria; her brother Horst Dittkrist and his wife Erla; her sister, Ursula Muhlberger; many nieces and nephews, including Terry, Lisa, Sonya, Bobby and Manfred; and cousins Andy and Michael, and their families.
