Etta Gaeta

GAETA - Etta (nee Mari), 99, of Belleville, passed away on May 26, 2017. Born in Naples, Italy, Mrs. Gaeta came to the United States as an infant with her family and settled in Newark. For the last 70 years, she has resided in Belleville. As a young woman in the 1930's, Etta worked alongside her parents in the original family business, Nanina's Fish Store which was located in the First Ward section of Newark. That store evolved into a restaurant known simply as Nanina's located on Cutler Street in Newark. In 1954, the family relocated their business to Branch Brook Park in Belleville and opened a restaurant called, Nanina's in the Park. This came to be known as one of the top restaurants in North Jersey and blossomed into a premier catering location. Etta worked everyday into her 80's beginning with her mother and father then husband and children Alan and Lyn to bring Nanina's to become a renowned restaurant and catering facility. Hostess with the Mostess!!
Mrs. Gaeta was predeceased by her beloved husband, Albert Gaeta in 1969.
Survivors include: her devoted children, Lyn Agresti and her husband, Dr. James Agresti of North Caldwell and Alan Gaeta of Belleville; two grandchildren, Dr. Jamie Agresti and his wife, Deneè and Victoria Hoehn and her husband, Christopher; and three great-grandchildren, Ella and Chloe Hoehn and Olivia Agresti.
Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4 to 7 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 10:00 am from the funeral home and 11:00 am at St. Lucy R.C. Church, 118 Seventh Ave., Newark, NJ. Interment to follow at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield.
