George Henry Parsells

George Henry Parsells, Jr., 81, currently of Allendale, New Jersey and Naples, Florida passed into eternal life on Monday, Nov. 19, 2018.
George was predeceased by his parents, George H. Parsells, Sr. and Caroline (nee Christensen) Parsells.
Most importantly, he was a loving husband to the late Norma (Finnerty) for 56 years before her passing in 2016 and father to George H. Parsells, III and his fiancé, Susan Penney of Bernardsville and Katherine L. Bizub and her husband, Toby of Wyckoff; grandfather to Christina Mary and George H. Parsells IV, Thomas Joseph III, John Finnerty, Margaret Anne Bizub; his sister, Joyce Sullivan and her husband, William and uncle to William, Robert, Christopher Sullivan and Sandra Barnes; his cousin, Raymond Eckel and his late wife, Ruth and their two children, Karen Weber and Karl Eckel. The family wishes to acknowledge Leila Lyman for the unwavering dedication and loving care she provided to George.
George was born in Englewood, New Jersey and was a graduate of St. Michael's College of Winooski, Vt. Upon graduation, he served in the NJ National Guard. George was the President of GHP Insurance Center of Ramsey, where he worked for many years with his late wife before their retirement in 2004.
He was a longtime member of the Bergen Highlands Rotary Club. A lover of travel, bridge and all things outdoors, George enjoyed hunting, fishing, alpine and cross country skiing and especially in his adult years, golf, and the time spent with family at the Jersey Shore on LBI.
George was a member of Hackensack Golf Club, Manchester (Vt.) Golf Club and The Strand Golf Club of Naples, Fla., where he forged many meaningful, lifelong friendships with cherished memories. An avid sports fan, he treasured the time he spent watching his children and grandchildren play their favorite sports over the years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 am Friday at St. Elizabeth's RC Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481. (Please meet at Church.) Entombment to follow at Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah, NJ. Visitation on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ. (There will not be any services on Thanksgiving).
