Hilda Gieson Obituary

Hilda May Jacobus Van Gieson lived to celebrate her 100th birthday on April 1, 2018. She passed away peacefully on June 9, 2018.

Hilda was born on April 1, 1918 in the Mountain View neighborhood of Wayne, New Jersey. She was the daughter of Edgar Arnold Jacobus and Elizabeth Maude Harris. Hilda was the fifth of six children born to Edgar & Elizabeth and the last surviving one.

Hilda was a WWII bride marrying William Paul Van Gieson of Little Falls, NJ on March 5, 1945. Bill passed away on February 27, 1991 and Hilda has dearly missed him.

After WWII Bill remained in the Navy and while stationed in Norfolk, VA he and Hilda adopted two baby boys whom they named William Paul (1951) and Glenn Allen (1954.)

During the last 18 years of Hilda's life she lived in Pennsylvania with Glenn and his wife, Beatriz and at times with their daughters Rebekah and Tamara and their granddaughter Natalie.

Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, June 12 from 11am to noon at the Bizub-Parker Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Little Falls, NJ. Burial, with a graveside service immediately following at Laurel Grove Cemetery, 295 Totowa Rd, Totowa, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a group Hilda loved and participated in that sews and crochets for charity. She crocheted many afghans in 18 years, even blind! Contributions would be payable to "St. Paul's Sewing Group" and mailed
