John Joseph Heese, age 56, of Little Falls, NJ and New York City passed away suddenly on November 16, 2017 of natural causes after an extended battle with depression. A Christmas gift to his family, John was born December 25, 1960 in Paterson, NJ. He was the son of Frances (Craig) Heese of Little Falls, NJ.
John attended St. Philip the Apostle School in Clifton, NJ and Beatrice Gilmore School in Woodland Park (formerly West Paterson), NJ. A 1979 graduate of Passaic Valley Regional High school in Little Falls, John went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre and Communications from William Paterson University in 1985. He was employed by the Hearst Corporation and Conde Nast publications, and as a Senior Promotion Production Manager for GQ magazine. He went on to work as a freelance promotion production manager, beginning in 2006.
John found pleasure in gourmet cooking and fine dining, great literature, intelligent dialogue, and his love of the theatre. He was one of the original fans of "The Boss", Bruce Springsteen, when he performed in local venues in Asbury Park, NJ. He spent many memorable weekends and summers with friends on Fire Island. He is remembered by his many friends for his sense of humor, willingness to help, and his kind and gentle spirit.
John was predeceased by his sister Margaret Ann Heese, and his brother George Robert Heese. In addition to his mother John is survived by his sisters Marie Ely and her husband Dwight of Trumbull, CT, Catherine DelBosco and her husband Harry of Denville, NJ, and his brother Robert Heese of Little Falls, NJ. He is also survived by seven nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his loyal and loving dog, Sugar.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Association for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) or a charity which supports mental health services.
