John A. Konecny

John Andrew Konecny of Wayne, formerly of Clifton, NJ passed away peacefully on December 31st with his family by his side. Born November 29th, 1934 in Passaic, NJ to Mary (nee Chorbi) Konecny and John Konecny Sr. He graduated from Garfield High School in 1953. He attended Fairleigh Dickinson University. After college, he served in the National Guard for several years. He was elected as the Garfield City Treasurer in 1968. He owned several businesses throughout the years including KAR Equities in Clifton, Pros Variety Store in Dumont and a bar & grill in Garfield. He retired from Blasco Supply Company, Monsey, NY in 1997. John served on the Ocean Club Board of Directors, Mantoloking, NJ for three terms. John was an avid Yankee Fan who never missed a game. He enjoyed spending his summers at his home on the Jersey Shore, and his winters at his home in Bonita Springs, Florida.
He lost his loving wife of 40 years Nancy (nee Panzardo) Konecny in 2013.
He was the adoring father of his twin daughters, Amanda Kopesky and her husband Adam of Wayne, and Kelly Miller and her husband Ray of Denville; his sister Anne Rose; niece Sherri Rose; nephew William Panzardo and his wife, Alicia; great-nephew William Panzardo Jr.; niece Christina Peoples; his grand dog, Rex. His most treasured moments were spent with his "girls" granddaughters, Morgan Miller, Alexa Kopesky, Madalyn Miller, and Alina Nancy Kopesky.
Visiting hours will be held Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral service Saturday 10:30 am at the funeral home. Entombment to follow at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Wayne Medical Center Foundation, 224 Hamburg Turnpike, Wayne, New Jersey 07470.
