John Luchejko Obituary

John Luchejko, 83, of Wallington died on May 23, 2010.
Born and raised in Wallington, Mr. Luchejko had lived in Parsippany for twenty years before moving back to Wallington in 1983 where he has resided since. Prior to retiring, he had been employed as a Window Supervisor with the United State Post Office in Passaic. In retirement he had been a crossing guard in Wallington. He was a parishioner, Past Parish President and current Board Member of Ukrainian Orthodox Holy Ascension Church in Clifton where he also ran the Pierogi Project for over twenty years. Mr. Luchejko was a veteran of the Unites States Navy serving during World War II. He was a member and had served as Treasurer of the Ukrainian American Veterans Post 17 in Passaic and was also a member of VFW Post 2640 Pavlick-Koster in Wallington.
Mr. Luchejko was predeceased by his brothers, Andrew and Michael and by his sister, Catherine.
He is survived by his wife, Genevieve (nee Tyrawski) of Wallington and his sons: Wayne of Florida and Richard of East Rutherford.
Funeral services will be Thursday 10:30 am from the Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton and 11:00 am at Ukrainian Orthodox Holy Ascension Church, 655 Broad Street at Colfax Avenue, Clifton. Interment to follow at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton. Visiting Wednesday from 4-8 pm only. Parastas 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Ukrainian Orthodox Holy Ascension Church would be appreciated.
