Joseph Giust, 80, of Clifton, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at home. Born in Faè, Italy, Joe came to the United States in 1950 and settled in Clifton. He resided in Garfield briefly before returning to Clifton over 60 years ago. Around the age of 18, Joe started his own business as a builder by teaching himself. He constructed homes and multi-unit apartment buildings for 20 years keeping his family close to the business as well.
Joe was active with the Clifton Eastern Division Little League where he served as a coach and manager of the Giust Builders baseball team winning the City Championship in 1974. He was also instrumental in the fund-raising and building of the field house at Curie Field.
Joe loved being with his family, in work and in play; everything he did, he did for them. Through-out his life he never stayed idle, not wanting to waste a moment and always wanting to move forward. With his tenacious self-reliant spirit he taught himself and mastered any skill he set his mind to, including woodworking to build custom cabinets and furniture, shooting, trading on the stock market and fixing any home repair, to name a few. He loved the outdoors, riding his ATV through the woods, fishing, telling family stories and having family bbq's. Joe's special and vibrant presence will be immensely missed by all that loved him dearly.
Survivors include: his beloved wife, Sandra; three devoted children, Chris Giust and his wife Tracey, Jeffrey Giust and his wife Suzanne and Deborah Giust; six grandchildren, Shawna, Carson, Ryan, Daniel, Allison and Michael; two sisters, Meri Salvador and Delfina Cadorin and one brother, Aldo Giust.
He was predeceased by his parents, Osvaldo and Maria Giust.
