Joseph Messineo, 91, of Clifton passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 surrounded by his family.
Born and raised in Paterson he moved to Clifton in 1966 where he has resided since. Mr. Messineo was a mechanical engineer for Picatinny Arsenal, Wharton for forty years before retiring. He had several Army Research and Development Awards and Patents. He was a former parishioner of St. George R.C. Church, Paterson and was a World War II United States Army Veteran.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Doris Koleser; his parents, Frank and Carmela (nee Ferrara) Messineo; two brothers, Frank and Louis Messineo; and one sister, Helen Van Genderen.
He is survived by his three daughters, Janet Carlock and her husband, Thomas of Wayne, Linda Shnyder and her husband, Paul of Sparta and Theresa Messineo and her husband, Jon Oliver of Bridgewater; three sisters, Marie Messineo, Clara Messineo and Rita Messineo all of Clifton; four grandchildren, Sarah Carlock, Anne Carlock, Joseph Shnyder and Jamie Oliver; and a loving uncle to his ten nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours Wednesday 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Funeral Services Thursday 9:15 am at the F.H. and 10:00 am Mass at St. Paul R.C. Church 124 Union Ave., Clifton. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa.
