Katherine Bakis-Sonye

Katherine Bakis-Sonye, 62, of Clifton, passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2018. Born in Jersey City, Katherine was raised in Brooklyn Heights, NY and has resided in Clifton since 1978. She had been employed in the bookkeeping department of Pacquet Oneida Co. of Clifton. Previous employment was with J.J. Shea Co., Gerges Law and American Looseleaf Co.
Katherine attended St. George's Greek Orthodox Church in Clifton. She was also a member of the now defunct BKLN HGTS, a community organization to improve the neighborhood and a former member of GOYA (Greek Orthodox Youth Association).
She was predeceased by her father, Nicholas G. Bakis in 2017.
Survivors include: her beloved husband, Stephen G. Sonye; her loving mother, Anna (nee Giannopoulos) Bakis; and her devoted brother, George E. Bakis, all of Clifton.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 11:30 am at the funeral home followed by a committal at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, 255 Main Ave., Clifton.
