Kathleen Marie Appleton

Kathleen Marie Appleton, age 85, died at home, surrounded by family members on August 12th. Mrs. Appleton was born in Paterson, NJ, the daughter of Hugh T. O'Rourke Jr and Irene McLaughlin O'Rourke. She married the late John Edward Appleton, Sr. in 1950, and became the mother of eight children. A lifelong Catholic, she was an active member of St. Philip the Apostle Parish, singing in the choir and serving as a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Lazarus Committee. Mrs. Appleton loved to travel, and especially enjoyed the annual camping trips to Kerr Lake, VA that were a family tradition for more than forty years.
She is survived by all of her beloved children: John Edward Appleton, Jr., Kathleen Appleton Ackerman and her husband Robert, Eileen Appleton McNamee, Thomas Hugh Appleton, Michael Robert Appleton, Mary Appleton Foy and her husband William, Paul Joseph Appleton, and Christopher Gerard Appleton and his wife, Laurie. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Daniel Appleton, Amy Appleton, William Ackerman, David Ackerman, Erin McNamee Sturges, Angel Caradonna, Michael Anthony Appleton, Alex Appleton, Brian Foy, Matthew Foy, Kevin Foy, Paige Appleton, Rachel Appleton, Paul Appleton Jr., Christopher John Appleton, and Jessica Appleton, as well as three great-grandchildren, Johanna Sturges, Jacob Sturges, and Dean Caradonna-and her many devoted friends.
Viewing hours will be Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton NJ 07013. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday 10:00 am at St. Philip's Church, 797 Valley Rd., Clifton NJ. Please meet at church. Private cremation to follow.
