Robert Catanzaro

Catanzaro - Robert, 89, of Clifton, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday May 18, 2017. Born in Passaic, Mr. Catanzaro resided there for most of his life before moving to Clifton in 2001. Before his retirement, he was employed as a Building Inspector for the City of Passaic for 25 years. Previously, he and his brother, Raymond, owned Phil's Bar and Grill located on State Street in Passaic, which was originally owned by their late father, Philip Catanzaro.
Mr. Catanzaro was a faithful lifelong parishioner and daily communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel R.C. Church in Passaic where he served as a CYO basketball coach. He was a lifelong member and also served as a Board Member of the Passaic/Clifton YMCA. Robert was a caring and loving person to everyone that knew him.
He was predeceased by his parents, Philip and Theresa (nee Tolomeo) Catanzaro; and three brothers, Anthony Catanzaro, Raymond Catanzaro and Rev. Eugene J. Catanzaro, OSFS.
Survivors include: two sisters, Rosalie G. Meade and her husband Raymond and Florence Sullivan, both of Lakewood, NJ; one brother, Philip R. Catanzaro of Amelia Island, FL; and 15 nieces and nephews.
Visiting will be held Monday from 4 to 8 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 9:15 am from the funeral home and then 10:00 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel R.C. Church, 10 St. Francis Way, Passaic. Interment to follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Lodi. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel R.C. Church, 10 St. Francis Way, Passaic, NJ 07055.
