Roger F. Rossnagel

Roger Frederick Rossnagel, 79, of Woodland Park, NJ passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 29, 2017. Born and raised in Newark, NJ. Mr. Rossnagel moved to Clifton where he resided for 45 years. He then moved to Woodland Park in 2010.
Roger attended Montclair University and Alfred University receiving a Masters in Organ and Music. He taught in the East Hanover and Montclair School Systems. Mr. Rossnagel also was a Church Organist for sixty years. He played in various churches in Northern and Southern New Jersey, but most of his career was spent at St. Agnes Episcopal Church, Little Falls, NJ. He was a member of NJEA, NEA and NJ Organist Guild of America.
Mr. and Mrs. Rossnagel moved to the Hovnanian Four Seasons Complex in Woodland Park in 2010. Roger started a chorus soon after moving there. The chorus is still functioning under new leadership while using the Steinway piano that Roger donated to the complex. They traveled extensively throughout Europe and Mr. Rossnagel played organs in France, England and Monaco giving recitals in each country.
His life centered around his family; sons, Richard Albert Rossnagel and his wife, Kerry and Gary Frederick Rossnagel and his wife Susan. Nothing brought him more joy than his beautiful grandchildren, Jake Connolly a junior at U Mass at Amherst, Tyler James a freshman at Rowan, Matthew Frederick and Samuel Reynolds juniors at Midland Park High School and Casey Gray a junior at Glen Rock High School. All their accomplishments were a time of joy for Roger and his wife Rachel Victoria (nee Gerardi) Rossnagel who were married for 57 years. Rachel is a retired Clifton High School French teacher.
Roger was predeceased by his parents, Charles Frederick and Mildred Myrtle (nee Bradford) Rossnagel; and one brother, Donald Rossnagel.
Visiting hours are 2-4 & 7-9 pm Friday at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral service 9:30 am Saturday at The Episcopal Church of St. James, 581 Valley Road, Montclair, NJ 07043. Please meet at Church. Private cremation to follow.
