Thaddeus J. Baran, 96, of Clifton, passed away on August 1, 2018. Born on May 27, 1922 in Passaic, he was raised there before moving to Clifton in 1962. Before retirement, he had been employed as a Quality Control Supervisor with Westinghouse Co. in Bloomfield. Mr. Baran was a graduate of Alliance College in Cambridge Springs, PA.
Mr. Baran was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph R.C. Church in Passaic where he served as an usher for many years. Through St. Joseph Church he was very active in
St. Al's Club.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having served honorably during World War II. As a member of the Seabees, Mr. Baran assisted in the construction of airfields. As a veteran who served overseas, he was a member of the Pavlik-Koster Veterans of Foreign Wars in Wallington.
Mr. Baran also found time to give back to his community. He served as a Passaic County Committeeman and coached baseball in the Clifton Eastern Division Little League as well as CYO basketball.
Mr. Baran enjoyed going to Nash Park in Clifton to watch the Clifton Phillies baseball games. He was an avid reader of newspapers everyday and loved watching his grandchildren participate in youth sports. One of his favorite vacations was going to Ocean City, Maryland with his family.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Anne (nee Puzio) in 1999 and his brother, Stanley Baran.
Survivors include: his three children, Diane J. Parisi and her husband Thomas J. Parisi, Linda Ann Finocchiaro and her husband Salvatore Finocchiaro and Robert Baran and his wife Lisa Baran; eight grandchildren, Thomas Parisi (Lesley), Christopher Parisi (Eliana), Michael Finocchiaro, Lindsay Owens (Jake), James Parisi, Robert Parisi, Robert Baran and Sandy Baran; eight great-grandchildren, Thomas, Emily, Chase, Lucy, Christopher, Matthew, Nicholas and Clayton; and his sister-in-law, Eleanor Baran. The family would like to thank everyone who has visited our Dad in his final days. We would especially like to thank his loyal friend, Frank Karpack for his daily visits and loving caregiver, Kazia Majechrzak for her compassion.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 454 Germantown Road, West Milford, NJ. Burial of ashes to immediately follow in the church cemetery.
