Tomislav Jovanovich

Tomislav "Tom" Jovanovich, age 86, of Clifton, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 15, 2018. He was born in 1931 in a village near Kragujevac, Serbia, the former Yugoslavia. He emigrated to France in 1959 and then to the United States in 1961, settling initially in Paterson and later in Clifton, where he spent the remainder of his life. A machinist by trade, his first job was at the Aloris Tool Company, Clifton, followed by Nabisco Bakeries, Fair Lawn, Drake's Bakeries, Wayne, and SB Thomas Inc. in Totowa, from where he retired. Predeceased by his beloved wife Stojanka in 2009, he is survived by his two children; his daughter Anica (Ann) and husband Miladin Radovanovich, of Wayne, NJ and his son Bozidar (Bob) and wife, Radmila of Akron, OH. He is the proud and beloved grandfather of Steven, John and Emilia Radovanovich, Danica Jovanovic, Kalla Jovanovic-Elwell and Jelena Petrovic. He is also survived by a dear niece, Marica Milisavljevic in Serbia. After his wife's death, he joined the Clifton Senior Center for camaraderie, where he enjoyed making new friends and playing many games of chess and dominoes, which were a particular passion. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed deep sea fishing, hunting with both rifle and bow and arrow and tending to his garden and yard. He was a life long believer in education, a passionate reader, a news and history buff, an animated story teller of his exploits and his family's history. He was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Serbian Orthodox Church of Paterson. Visiting hours are Friday, January 19, 2018 from 5-9pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Ave, Clifton NJ 07013. The funeral will be Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 1pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Laurel Grove Cemetery, 295 Totowa Rd, Totowa, NJ 07512. He will remain in our hearts forever. Memory Eternal.
