Zita Lorine Motta (DeLucia), a lifelong resident of Clifton, passed away peacefully, Monday, December 10th at the age of 91, at her home, where she raised a family and lived for 60 years. Zita was a graduate of St. Paul School, Clifton High School, and Fairleigh Dickinson Junior College. Zita was an active member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish and School, and volunteer extraordinaire. She was dedicated to these positions and took pride in many years of service. Zita sang in St. Andrew's choir for 45 years, managed the gift shop at St. Mary's General Hospital, Passaic, provided assistance to the librarians at St. Andrew School and the Allwood Branch of the Clifton Library, and ran the blood drive at St. Andrew's for many years. Zita's Letters to the Editor, published in The Herald News, spoke of issues that she felt needed a voice. Additionally, Zita, the youngest of six children, took the task upon herself to create the family tree, paper and pencil style, which has been a resource for generations, connecting the relatives from Italy to those settled in the United States.
Zita was predeceased by Bob, her dear husband of 53 years.
Zita is survived by her four children, Janine of Glen Gardner; Christopher (Debbie) of Pompton Plains; Aimee (Joe) of Huntington, VT; and Gregory (Jennifer) of Clifton. Also surviving her are grandchildren Cristina, Jonathan, and Ciara, and as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Family & Friends for Freedom Fund, 40 Woodland Place, Pompton Plains, NJ 07444 http://injuredmarinesfund.org/ or Animal Protection League of New Jersey https://aplnj.org/ would be appreciated.
